Description
When you secure your cargo with ShockStrap, you do not need to tighten the ratchet to the very last click, your cargo is secure once the urethane piece is engaged. To engage the urethane piece, tighten your straps until the webbing is “guitar string tight“, and then stop ratcheting. There will still be room between the safety strap and urethane piece, and your hand will be able to fit between the two.
Our 2” ShockStrap Ratchet Safety Strap has an industry leading 2 year warranty and a breaking strength of over 6000 lbs. The Ratchet Safety Strap is built with a commercial grade ratchet, 2” black Polyester webbing, integrated soft ties, double steel hooks, and our unique flexible ShockStraps.
We incorporated a Safety Strap on one side of the ShockStrap for two very important reasons: first, if a catastrophic accident happened and the ShockStrap were to break, the Safety Strap would keep the tie down tight and your load secure; second, the Safety Strap also acts as a limiter so you won’t over-tighten or put undue stress on your load.
Our 2” Polyester webbing has a 8000lb breaking strength and the overall Ratchet Safety Strap has a 2000LBS working load limit. The commercial grade ratchet has an outside release for ease of use even with gloves on. It is bolted on so you can replace it in the future and keep your investment working. We continue to use Polyester webbing because it has superior attributes, it stretches less, is more resistant to rot and mildew, has a higher strength rating and a softer feel in your hands.
We doubled the hooks and added a yellow zinc chromate finish which offers better weather resistance and durability compared to standard chrome plating. Next to each hook there is an integrated soft loop to use when the hook won’t fit. You can wrap the soft loop around an axle or handlebar and pull it tight against the hook.
ShockStraps are made from a proprietary formula and are not affected by most chemicals, sunlight, oil, salt water, fungus or moisture. The strength of our product comes from the ability of the ShockStrap to maintain constant pressure on the strap when hitting bumps or having side pressure applied to it. You won’t be pulling over every 50 miles or at a gas station break to retighten ShockStraps.

I don’t know why ANYONE would buy another ratchet strap!! As the old saying goes(when you’ve had the best why settle for less!!!!) These are by far the best ratchet strap on the market, yes I know they are more expensive but nothing on the market compares to these. I tied a new ATV down and tried to make it move!! It didn’t not one inch. Thanks Fred just ordered two more.

These straps are an exceptional product and vastly superior to any other straps I have used. I frequently haul my ATV in the back of my truck on some really steep, rocky 4-wheel drive roads. My old common ratchet straps always managed to loosen up and I often had to adjust them. After I got a pair of these straps from Fred Gill, at a hunting expo, and used them, I didn’t have any more problems. I highly recommend them to anyone who hauls recreational vehicles into the back country. I have to add that Fred stands behind these products and is customer focused…a real pleasure to do business with!

Hi Fred,
I’ve been meaning to send you these pics for a long time. Got your strap at the overland expo. It works great to ease the load when we have 4 bikes hanging off the end of our EarthRoamer. This is our third bike rack. This time we bought a oneup…which is supposed to be very strong, but we added your strap just in case. The give in the strap helps to ease the stress on the rack especially when we are bumping along a dirt road.

I picked up my Shockstrap at the Fort Worth Hunters Extravaganza in 2015. Was very impressed by product demo. so I bought one for my Yamaha Viking. I use one 18′ 2″ strap running over the floorboard. We travel lots of rough roads to and from our camp. I never have to worry or check to see if the strap is on. Once you ratchet it down, you don’t have to worry about the hooks coming loose or getting any slack in the strap. I’ve recommended Shockstrap to everyone I know that hauls ATVs/UTV’s. Great product and great staff. Have spoken to the several times at Hunters Extravaganza and DSC. Super friendly and helpful. Just an outstanding product.

I have used a lot of tie downs before, starting with the ever annoying steal cable come along. If you didn’t hurt yourself with the cable, you’d forget it was there(not visible) and trip over the side of the trailer. Next came the ratchet strap, big improvement however they had the issue of set, reset, re-ratchet and pull over and check every time you think it’s moving. My most recent experience this weekend involved picking up a vehicle ready to transport from Arizona to Texas and it was “ready to go”. While stopping to check the car & trailer I don’t know how but I crossed paths with Justin Merrill in Lordsburg, NM and was introduced to ShockStrap. This is the best product I have ever used when it comes to securing a vehicle on a trailer. We loaded, set and secured the vehicle with ShockStrap and I continued my trip worry free. The vehicle was left secured on the trailer and several people have looked at the vehicle and the comments include “I have never seen this system of tie downs, how did they work?” My weekend story was not the vehicle rather the ShockStrap and what a great product they are. Thank you Justin!
